What My Sessions Are About

19 July 2011 by Alan Richards, MVP

On the Tuesday of the conference I will be delivering 2 sessions, both of which draw on my experiences of using SharePoint 2010. The two sessions are very different and I thought I would give you some idea of what they will be about.

T21 - Cutting Costs Using SharePoint 2010 (15:00)

This session is very much based on demos of InfoPath 2010 to create rich data collection forms, SharePoint Designer 2010 to create business orientated workflows and then SharePoint 2010 to publish the forms and collect the data.

The demos will build solutions using no code that fit to your business needs and harness the power of SharePoint 2010 to collect & analyse the data. These are the types of solutions we have been using in my organisation for over a year now to reduce the use of paper forms and increase our ability to analyse increasing amounts of data

T28 - SharePoint 2010 and Virtualisation (16:15)

SharePoint 2010 is a monumental piece of software and to run it efficiently requires a number of farm servers. Using virtualisation reduces the need for physical servers and also gives you the ability to respond to changing business needs.

This session will go through how in my organisation we have fully virtualisaed every SharePoint 2010 server, including the SQL servers. I will talk about the pitfalls and the benefits and by the end of the session you should be able to virtualise your SharePoint 2010 farm without making the mistakes I did along the way.

So that gives you some idea of the sessions I will be delivering and I hope to see some of you there. If you are around during the conference then drop me a tweet (twitter.com\arichards_Saruk) and we can grab a coffee and talk SharePoint.
