In a recent CIOUpdate.com article entitled, Prolific SharePoint Sites Undermine Governance, technology writer Jake Frazier outlined a common problem with the growing number of SharePoint customers: the uncontrolled growth of SharePoint sites, and how it impacts governance. SharePoint is proliferating in the marketplace, with KMWorld reporting SharePoint licenses worldwide at more than 130 million. The more sites that are created and the more content added to a SharePoint environment, the more difficult it can be to change course, correct mistakes and implement a governance model. But the business value to having a formal governance model in place is enormous.

It is strange how many developers wince when they face SharePoint and become melancholy when talking about workflows. Workflows are not just like programming, or something very special or something very complicated or something very limited or something for documents. Some people tried to solve simple tasks with SharePoint workflows, but failed somewhere when it became clear that they cannot read the manual from the middle and they have no time to read it from the very beginning.

European SharePoint Conference (Berlin, October 17-20).

Not to leave the other side of the globe without a big event after TechEd Europe was moved to next summer, the European SharePoint Conference will be a SharePoint-only event. It’s sure to replicate the spirit and the high-caliber content of the SPC in Anaheim.
