Ostfildern, Germany,11 January 2011 — Coextant Systems today announced the release date for Hyper.Net 6 Service Pack 3, the latest update of its Enterprise Content Services technology for Microsoft SharePoint and other platforms.

Hyper.Net is an enterprise Web Service that automatically converts and re-purposes documents and other information managed in any document storage solution, e.g., SharePoint, into user-optimized, multi-format content and publishes it into archiving systems, intranets, information portals, Web sites and social networks running on any platform. The product is widely used internationally to completely automate the flow of corporate information to the end-user community.

Designed to improve the company’s competitive advantage, customer satisfaction, and improve work efficiency, this initiative is intended to encourage and improve employee interaction and information sharing among the company’s 124,000 employees. Six Degrees of Separation.” It was one of those catch phrases of the last 20 years. There are 6 degrees to Kevin Bacon, and those in Hollywood where you can connect him to any actress based on his work. Now the challenge I propose to you is to see if you can find someone active in the SharePoint Community anywhere in the world that is more than 3 degrees from me. In addition, going into a new community, find the leader and you’ll find the connection to the rest of the community. We are all about 3 degrees of separation and in many cases there is no separation, we are at 2!

If you have been to this blog before then you will know about how much use I make of InfoPath 2010 and that one of the major uses for where I work is our Academic Review day. Its a program of interviews with students and their parents that happens twice a year.

This year I was asked of it was possible to create a way that the forms could be printed for certain students as the main input form is not really printer friendly, as you can see below.

I’m pretty sure everybody who is using SharePoint has sent a link to a document in a Document Library to somebody else (in an email message for example). So you probably know that links to documents (or list items) can become pretty long if the document is located in a Document Library on a site deeply buried in a hierarchy. SharePoint is of course not the only platform having this “issue” and the internet already solved it quite some time ago with URL shortening. From Wikipedia:
