DevOps Practice in Infopulse: In Terms of DevOps Engineer [part 1 of 4]

How to improve the customer’s infrastructure and save resources by automating particular processes? Although all four videos will bring clear answers to this, in the first part, Infopulse DevOps Engineer explains how particular practices combined with a full Microsoft toolset influenced the project development and automation of specific functions.

The Ireland state agency for qualification and quality assurance addressed Infopulse to help optimize its complex infrastructure and achieve specific business goals. Before that, the customer had to allocate plenty of resources for the infrastructure maintenance and deployment of new builds to production. The product delivery was inconsistent, required additional costs and manual operations that did not guarantee quality. By utilizing Microsoft technology stack, combined with CI/CD, Release Management and other DevOps practices, Infopulse engineers automated the delivery process reducing time-to-market – assembling of a new version decreased from hours to minutes. DevOps Practice in Infopulse: In Terms of Project Manager [part 3 of 4]

DevOps model can also streamline the whole working process by building an efficient communication between all the participants of the process. In this video, Infopulse Project Manager explains how DevOps practices (Continuous Integration, Continuous Deployment, etc.) combined with Microsoft technologies (Azure, VSTS, TFS, etc.) ensured an automated product release process and efficient collaboration between all the members of Development team, IT Operations, Quality Assurance, and Business representatives.

From the project management side, integration of such Microsoft tools as Azure, Visual Studio, Power BI and TFS with the DevOps model allows overseeing the roles of each involved member, the current state of the project, and the overall progress. Most importantly, such a combination of Microsoft tech stack and DevOps practices enabled a transparent process for the customer, as well as for the involved teams and the project management. DevOps Practice in Infopulse: In Terms of System Architect [part 4 of 4]

In the final part of DevOps video series, Infopulse Lead Architect dwells on the infrastructure bottlenecks and ways to optimize the performance of all systems. This was a challenging and complicated task since Infopulse team was engaged in the project after the consolidation of four different organizations. Each of them had own isolated infrastructure, disperse servers and technologies from different vendors. As a result, it influenced high-costs for maintenance, miscommunication between teams and low-performance of the agency’s services.

After a single stack of Microsoft technologies was applied, the agency acquired a unified optimized infrastructure with the required deployment to Azure Cloud. At the same time, introducing DevOps practices such as Continuous Delivery and Continuous Integration established the effective interaction between teams, simplified approval and coordination stages. There are even more benefits Infopulse delivered to the customer, which you can find in this full video.

Summary

Considering the complexity of the project, the applied DevOps practices combined with a wide range of Microsoft technologies enabled the successful transformation of the agency’s services and improved the performance of all systems. Besides, Infopulse has competently utilized an approach that focuses not only on the technical part of the project but also on the customer’s business expectations.
