SharePoint adoption is something many companies struggle with. Why is this? It’s not that there’s anything wrong with SharePoint. The real problem is end users’ lack of knowledge and understanding of how to use the numerous capabilities and features available within SharePoint. If this becomes widespread throughout the company, the result is “chaos”. Your SharePoint help desk becomes so bogged down with support requests, they spend all of their time responding to support calls (often answering the same questions over-and-over again). This can lead to frustrated support team members. Furthermore, if end users encounter a problem they don’t know how to solve and the support team is too busy to help, you now have frustrated end users too. They may solve their problem by using an alternative to SharePoint, which is exactly what management does NOT want to happen.
