Qumu 2013 EMEA SharePoint Survey Shows Strong Emphasis on Training & Development

Qumu 2013 EMEA SharePoint Survey: Only 9% of respondents do not use SharePoint for training

26th March, 2013 – Qumu, the leading business video platform provider, has revealed that Microsoft’s SharePoint platform is being extensively used for training and development of staff within the enterprise environment. The survey also showed that 88% of respondents saw training delivered through the platform as a top priority for SharePoint, with 40% of users wanting to use video to provide live video training and meetings.

Qumu’s European SharePoint survey was carried out in January 2013, and sought to understand how the SharePoint platform is being used by users in enterprises across Europe. There was a strong human resources theme in the research findings, with SharePoint currently being used for:

• Training of staff (60%)
• Processing of forms such as those recording holiday requests and expenses (41%)
• Communication of HR benefits (31%)

When it comes to development of personnel, SharePoint is used to provide a wide range of training. Results from the survey showed that SharePoint is used to deliver:

• New hire training (43%)
• Career development training (50%)
• HR forms and benefits training (33%)
• How to use SharePoint and other systems training (44%)
• Subject matter expert training (32%)
• Other types of training (22%)

With remote working an established practice for many employees*, and teams spread across multiple locations, using video technology for employee training has the potential to save costs and improve efficiency for businesses. 45% of survey respondents felt that having video upload and sharing capabilities was a top priority for SharePoint. 53% said that making the SharePoint user experience more engaging and dynamic would improve corporate culture.
