Three years ago, Schiphol Airport began its Power Platform journey with a small, committed team and a bold ambition: empower employees to shape the digital future of one of Europe’s most complex airport ecosystems. Today, more than 700 makers are building thousands of flows, applications, and agents that support day-to-day airport operations, from baggage logistics and risk & compliance to talent acquisition and Passenger Services.
In this session, we take you behind the scenes of how Schiphol transformed from a traditionally outsourced IT landscape into an enterprise-scale low-code organization. We’ll share the critical decisions, governance foundations, and platform strategy that enabled us to scale safely and sustainably, including the introduction of a Center of Excellence, a tiered maker model, and the journey toward enterprise-wide adoption.
Looking ahead, we’re strengthening our foundations with a mature and scalable technical approach. As our maker community grew past 700 creators, consistency and predictable lifecycle management became essential. We’ll show how Managed Environments, DLP governance, and a tiered environment strategy safeguard data and support collaboration. You’ll also see how Power Platform Pipelines, standardized deployment practices, and reusable patterns enable faster, more reliable delivery across both citizen developers and enterprise teams.
We’re also doubling down on empowering our makers to build more, and build better. We’ll share how curated learning paths, a Maker Landing Zone, community champions, office hours, and focused hackathons fuel adoption and quality. With telemetry-driven coaching, quality gates, and environment group rules built in, we’ve created a support model that helps makers innovate quickly while staying safely within guardrails.
