organisation that was run efficiently and effectively and therefore
worth the investment.
Benefits and Outcomes: Age UK Islington’s
solution is an Intranet and Extranet based on SharePoint 2010
Enterprise. User access is controlled through a role based security
model driven by Active Directory. Site templates have been created
to easily deploy portals to external parties such as commissioners
and partner organisations. Internal users benefit from SharePoint’s
document management features. SharePoint’s workflow capabilities
with Infopath forms help to automate collaborative processes such
as complaints handling. Custom dashboards are available built on
SharePoint’s Business intelligence features, making use of Excel
Services and PowerPivot, SQL Reporting and Performance Point
services. Data is retrieved from a SQL Server Analysis Services
data warehouse.
Age UK Islington benefited from a significant licence discount
available from Microsoft for charities. The initial cost more than
balances out in cost and efficiency savings. It has also introduced
