Introducing Rik de Koning

My name is Rik de Koning and I work as a Functional Consultant for Rapid Circle, which is one of the larger Office 365/Azure implementation partners in The Netherlands.

I started my career in 2011 as a SharePoint support engineer and in 2013, I went to become a SharePoint consultant where I did various projects on SharePoint Server 2010 and SharePoint Server 2013.

Currently, I’m fully enrolled with the Power Platform in my daily activities as a Power Platform consultant.

Please recommend one ESPC22 Session (you can’t pick your own 😊 )

Can you briefly discuss a project you are most proud of?

That must be my current project at KLM (Royal Dutch Airlines). I’ve been working for KLM quite some time now in various departments, but in the last two years I redesigned and reconfigured the entire way the Power Apps and Power Automate flows for all HR processes are being build. With these new methods, it makes maintainability and reusability of the apps/flows very easy for all processes. Some of these methods I will also discuss during my session.

What is your favourite film?

I’m quite keen on fantasy categorized movies. I really like the Lord of the Rings movies (the Rings of Power series not so) and the Hobbit movies.

What is the best career or life advice you have received to date?

Don’t let anything stop you and don’t be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone.

I’ve always been (and still am) quite an introverted person so I would’ve never thought to be on stage, hosting a session on such a wonderful event like ESPC. But a few years back, I took an assertiveness training in which the trainer really boosted my morale and motivated me to do more. That was really helpful for me.

What is your favourite Microsoft product and why?

That would be the Power Platform of course. I really like the opportunities it gives. Not only for professional Power Platform consultants, but also for citizen developers. It makes digitizing and automation so easy.
