About a week ago an official mentioning of the forthcoming SharePoint version – now codenamed “SharePoint 15″ – was released from Microsoft Corporate Vice President of Development, PJ Hough. The Office Division has built a version of the software that is ready to distribute to companies participating in the Technology Adoption Program (TAP) and individuals that has been awarded MVP status. This milestone has traditionally created a lot of buzz, and it looks like the same thing is happening this time.

At the last OpenText Content World I was asked to do a session about Microsoft SharePoint and SAP Business Suite. When Adrian, my colleague from the SharePoint line of business, and I discussed about the content of this session we quickly agreed that SharePoint perfectly fits into the content enriched business process story of SAP Extended ECM. In another session, and based on this in my post Improve Customer Interaction Efficiency, I described the concept of content enriched business processes in the context of customer interaction. Therefore we enhanced this context by assuming that the professional services department uses SharePoint for collaboration about customer projects. Here’s a handy way to do a redirect without editing anything server side. Not that that’s what you should do in SharePoint any way.

Add this snip of code below to to the content editor web part in HTML view on the page you want to redirect from. You will likely want to change the header bar to none to hide the web part as well.

In a CIOUpdate.com article entitled Prolific SharePoint Sites Undermine Governance, technology writer Jake Frazier outlines a common problem with the growing number of SharePoint customers: the uncontrolled growth of SharePoint sites, and how it impacts governance. SharePoint is proliferating in the marketplace, with KMWorld reporting SharePoint licenses at over 130 million worldwide. The more sites that are created and the more content added to your environment, the more difficult it can be to change course, correct mistakes, and implement a governance model. But the business value to having a formal governance model in place is enormous. As Mr. Frazier points out,
